Former Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has reacted after the news that Israel will lift Kosovo visas.
Through a Facebook post, Hoti has expressed happiness that during the time of Kosovo's prime minister, Israel had recognised Kosovo as a state.
I am happy that while I was Prime Minister, we accepted Israel's recognition and now as head of the Kosovo-Israel Friendship Group to hear the news that soon we are moving without visas in Israel. As a Friendship Group, we have worked hard to deepen economic and diplomatic co-operation with Israel. Among the first requirements on our visit to Israel as the Friendship Group, we requested visa removal for our citizens. This is an opportunity for citizens and businesses to exchange their experiences”, he said.
God bless the Republic of Kosovo and its friends”, he has declared.
On 4 September 2020 under the mediation of then-American President Kosovo and Serbia had signed separate agreements with the US aimed at normalising Kosovo-Serbia reports.
Part of the agreement Kosovo signed was also recognition by Israel, so Kosovo agreed to have the embassy in Jerusalem, the location opposed by most countries in the world, which is supported by the Trump administration.
