The Sports Hall in Zubin Potok is designated as the location for the petition aimed at voting for the mayor's dismissal. The petition is also in Zvecan
The signing meeting begins today after the municipality approved the initiative group's request for the exploitation of this public space.
The representative of citizens for the petition in Zvecan, Darko Vuksanovic, has called on citizens of this municipality to come out today as much as possible to vote for the dismissal of Zvecan Mayor Ilir Peci.
The signatures he indicated would begin gathering tomorrow at 9:00 in the morning.
Vuksanovic has claimed to have faced obstacles, but that despite that they have managed to obtain the necessary documentation.
Despite the grant of permission, Chairman Izmir Zeqiri voiced sceptical about what this initiative could produce.
“There is no solution to the northern municipalities with the dismissal of the mayors, because we also have the congregations that are mainly led by minorities, so that when they want to, they can show dissatisfaction, discontent is that they are being led by minorities. I see it more as an initiative to confuse the process than to solve the” problem, Zeqiri said.
He also has doubts about the legality of the process, separately in the next phase, in what he called “a kind of referendum without a law for referendum”.
I believe this initiative can come with constitutional attacks, our laws. So we're obliged to follow the laws. Anything that can be violated, the law or the Constitution, of course there may be complaints on our part”, Zeqiri said.
The Zeqiri would prefer a political agreement, including resignations, with the guarantee that the new election process will develop without pressure and influence.
There is no promise that there can be majority will, for now, to hold free, democratic and fair elections. I am skeptical that there are, but we will implement the 34x1> law, Zeqiri said.
The signing in Zvecan will also begin Friday at 9: 00 p.m.
The regular deadline for collecting 20% of signatures from the voter list expires on Sunday.
