US Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia James O'Brien has welcomed visits by the European Union's minister for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, is making them in Belgrade and Pristina, more precisely the meeting he had with Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq today and tomorrow with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
O'Brien wrote in “X” that the US strongly supports dialogue, stressing the need for full implementation of the agreements, “including the association”. He has sought to move ahead with local elections in northern Kosovo, and has requested co-ordination before the new Kosovo Central Bank regulation prohibiting transactions with Serb dinars takes effect.
“US strong support for the EU facilitated dialogue. The need for full implementation of agreements, including Association. New local elections in northern Kosovo must move forward; co-ordination before implementing new currency regulations” has written O'Brien.

At the end of the post, the US diplomat added that “Serbia should hold those involved in the Banjska” attack responsible.
O'Brien's reaction comes after QUINT's request to suspend the CEC's decision by February 1st to end the use of the Serbian dinar in the country. At this request, US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier, who met with Governor Ahmet Ismaili, has written today in the CEC.
“We call for the implementation of this regulation to be postponed, so that it can give time for more effective transition and communication with the public to ease the negative impact on citizens”, Saveer wrote in “X”.
