Eurodeputt once Vladimir Bilchik, European Parliament rapporteur for Serbia, hopes Pristina and Belgrade will find the will for normalising relations, and this year will be directed towards ending dialogue.
Bilchik says about the Voice of America that the EU is sending clear messages to Aleksandar Vuciqi and Albin Kurti that in 2024 it expects implementation of agreements reached for normalising relations between the two countries, the Klankosova broadcast.tv.
We are sending them clear messages and we hope they find the will to do so. From my experiences with President Vuciq, I think there is a consensus and a will to make progress. We have seen this, especially when it comes to ID cards. The license plates, the energy, when it comes to durability in the field. And that's important. I think it is up to Pristina to resolve a major issue of importance for Serbia and the protection of all Serbs living in Kosovo, and this is the foundation of the Association of Serb Major Communities, it is time for this to be realised, I think it will really enable progress and I hope that Pristina will have the power and responsibility to act with confidence in the coming days and weeks. It is important that tensions in the region be reduced”.
It is absolutely necessary that the attacks, such as the one in Banjska, not be repeated. Just as there are no attacks on NATO and KFOR soldiers. Past events should be thoroughly investigated so that none of the parties would have reason to step up tensions. It is encouraging that Belgrade has shown willingness to encourage Serbs to go to the polls. I hope the elections in northern Kosovo will be held and there will be a political agreement on how to realise it all. The agenda is clear and complex. This year we really have to go towards the end of the” dialogue, Bilchik said.
