Hasan Dajaj from Prizren, a former member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, has been arrested Friday morning by Serbia's authorities at the Merdar border crossing, while currently in Kursumlia prison.
His lawyer, Jevdet Smakqi, has said his arrest is more political than legal.
He said he failed to speak to his client, while he indicated that on Friday Dallaj was allowed to contact only his family.
My “Klient has been allowed to contact his family yesterday, which has shown that he is at the detention center in Kursumli. The concerns and anxiety of family members are too great”, he said.
Smakqi also said all necessary legal actions were taken Friday, while so far there is no new information about the case.
“As I have stated, I have taken all actions by contacting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and have contacted the person in charge of the Kosovo Liaison Office, Jetish Jashari, and we are in co-ordination with him, to coordinate all actions and activities with international mediators so that our client can be released as soon as”, Smaqi said.
Otherwise, following Hasan Daj's arrest there were reactions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MPJ), as well as from Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca.
Kosovo Parliament Speaker Glauk Konjufca stressed that this is a dangerous signal in the wake of events showing that authorities today are attacking stability and peace from all sides.
He has now called for the immediate release of former KLA soldier Hasan Daj.
Likewise, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspore (MPJD) has announced that besides former Kosovo Liberation Army member Hasan Dakaj, another citizen has been arrested, Xhavit Daka, but has already been released.
The MPJD has stated that in this regard all its institutional mechanisms have been activated. Likewise, international mechanisms for Serbia's actions towards Kosovo citizens have been announced.
