If Serbia wants to be part of the six billion-euro European economic assistance, then it must implement the agreement to normalise relations with Kosovo. Therefore, during warnings for the establishment of the new government, current Prime Minister Anna Brnabiq said Kosovo will be the top priority.
Continued dialogue on normalising relations with Kosovo will be the main focus of Serbia's new government.
So stated to the media in Belgrade, current Prime Minister Ana Brnabiq, who warned that priorities for the new government emerged following elections held on December 17th is also a matter for European integration.
Government officials have long warned pressure from the International Community on Serbia on Kosovo.
The EU first requires implementation of the agreement on normalising relations for Serbia to benefit from a 6 billion-euro economic growth plan for the Western Balkans. Kosovo is a condition for European integration.
Therefore, connoisseurs of developments estimate that the new institutions will face demands for implementation of the agreement.
“Kosovo will be the subject through implementation of the Ohrid Agreement. It will appear as a topic about which some sort of internal political compromise should be built, but we will see if possible. Therefore, the issue of European integrations should be opened adequately, because implementation of the Ohrid Agreement will be in one or another a way directly related to the European integration process”, Bojan Klacar from the Centre for Free Elections and Democracy in Belgrade said.
In this direction, the first requirement to be submitted to Belgrade is the inclusion of the Ohrid Agreement in chapter 35, which is part of Serbia's negotiation process with Brussels.
After that, the only thing expected is the results.
