Killed fighters belonged to the Units for Resistance in Sinjar (YBS), a militia linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Iraqi security sources said, Reuters news agency reported.
The YBS fighters were moving in a car to the Sinnair area when they were hit with fear.
For a long time, Turkey carried out a campaign in Iraq and Syria against PKK militants, the YBS and the Syrian People Protection Unit (YPG). These three organisations, Ankara considers them terrorist groups.
Turkey regularly carries out air strikes in northern Iraq and has dozens of roadblocks on Iraqi territory. In recent days, Ankara has intensified fears in Iraq, targeting targets near urba areas and key roads. / REL
