Students Return to School Banks Today

Kosovo's pre-university education today begins the 2023/24 school year. Unlike last year's strike, this year it will start in trouble as far as book equipment is concerned for all students. It was the Ministry of Education that days before the start of the school year announced that tools for [...] will be shared.

It was the Ministry of Education that a few days before the start of the school year announced that tools will be shared for students' parents so they can be spent on book purchase.

This has sparked numerous reactions from the education union, the parents and the opposition, who have called the “wrong experiment” the MASTI decision.

Otherwise, the Ministry of Education has distributed books for primary school students free of charge since 2008. But this year's decision, according to this dictatorship, came due to the failure of an agreement with publishing houses for the supply of book schools, because “publishing houses have offered prices much higher than those they place in their libraries”.

The Ministry of Education has decided to allocate between 80 euros for students from first grade to fifth, and from 30 euros for those from the sixth to the ninth, as the latter have books secured from last year, for which the government has allocated about 13m euros.

Education Minister Arberie Nagavci himself has declared Thursday that payment procedures have been completed for the first group of parents to have applied by 29 August, which stands at over 81 thousand beneficiaries.

According to her, the total number of applications so far is over 115 thousand. She also said the rest will be treated with the next group.

Meanwhile, The KP has reported yesterday that most students are not equipped with textbooks. Most of the parents with whom the Agency teams have talked have claimed they have not yet bought all the textbooks, until generally the same have been declared against MASTI's decision, saying they have to wander from one library to another.

Another problem that emerged after MASTI's decision was also the lack of bookstores in seven municipalities in the country, which made school textbooks very difficult for the respective parents.
