Smith is preparing to stand trial with Trump for two criminal cases over the next year.
“Politico” writes that Whiting's role in Jack Smith's team remains unclear. A spokesman for Smith Séke has agreed to talk about the case, and Whiting himself has returned an answer.
The paper writes that they have received no response from the Prosecutor's Office in The Hague concerning Alex Whiting's current status.
Alex Whiting replaced former specialised chief-in-chief Jack Smith at the Special Court in November 2022.
Alex Whiting had taken on the role of acting as chief prosecutor specialising in the Special Court until a new specialised chief prosecutor was appointed.
“He has the same competencies as the specialised prosecutor and there will be no interruptions in the work of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office in any respect”, the media report said.
