No results from September 14th meeting, connoisseurs exclude additional measures against Kosovo

Local and international political acquaintances see Kosovo's possibility of facing additional measures high due to the recent failure of dialogue in Brussels.

The 14 September meeting, between Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, ended without a result, and in the European Union responsible for the failure held Kosovo. And the issue of lifting or implementing additional measures, according to Radio Free Europe's EU sources, is related to the flow of dialogue.

Politicalologist Doraet Imer has expressed concern that measures that could be added to Kosovo would damage its position in the international arena.

The possibility to increase punitive measures in proportion to what these officials told them is relatively high. Of course, these measures will affect the process of strengthening Kosovo's political subjectivity relatively much, and the possibility of harming Kosovo's international position is relatively large, he has said.

He has also expressed concern over the differences in attitudes between the EU and Kosovo, expressed after the last meeting.

Serbia has managed to present Kosovo as a party that is unwilling to produce compromise, thus turning association as the key point for implementing the” agreement, Imer has added.

For this reason, analyst Visar Xani has estimated that Kosovo must find a common language with both the European bloc and the United States so it is not the condemned side.

The “for Kosovo is important to take this meeting very seriously, so that the EU's approach can be taken seriously, because it can have consequences for the future, but to pave the way for co-operation and co-ordination, in order not to continue further so that Serbia can be reflected as a party that is cooperative and not being punished, receiving penalties only Kosovo. If we manage to find common language with the EU and the US, the way and opportunity to strike Serbia with measures that could be even more severe than against Kosovo”, he has declared.

According to him, recent meetings in Brussels have shown there is uncertainty in the dialogue process.

In the European Union, it has indicated that the removal of punitive measures against Kosovo, the cause of tensions in the predominantly Serb-inhabited north, is dependent on the performance of dialogue and related consultations, which member states are expected to have over the coming weeks.

On Thursday of September 14th, Kosovo and Serbia disagreed over the sequence of implementation of the agreement reached in Brussels and its agreed annex in Ohrid.

The Kosovo plan was rejected by Serbia and the EU. And for the consensus plan presented by the EU, Kurti said it was conditioning the implementation of the entire agreement with the Association of Serb majority municipalities and the co-ordination of Serbia's demands.
