The MP and head of the German foreign affairs commission Michael Roth during a conversation with journalists in Pristina, part of which was also the newspaper Express, also speaking on the issue of visa liberalisation.
Commenting on the statement by France President Emannuel Macron, who linked visa removal to the dialogue process, leaving open the possibility of them being liberalised, Roth has said that now is the time for Kosovo's trip to happen.
I am convinced that now is the time for visa liberalisation for people here in Kosovo. Suspension is not a wise and good idea. I don't know if this issue, a controversial and sensitive issue between the two governments (French Republic of Germany), but I am grateful to Chancellor and French president for taking responsibility and personal commitment to solve problems on the ground” Roth said.
Speaking about the issue of liberalisation, Roth has said the EU has disappointed Kosovars.
“E knows that many people here in Kosovo are disappointed and have lost patience because the EU has not always played a fair role when it comes to Kosovo. Just to illustrate, visa liberalisation. It has been very unfair and laments that people in this country had to wait so long for visa liberalisation, despite the fact that Kosovo had fulfilled the conditions and criteria many years ago. And that's why a lot of people in this country don't trust the EU, they don't trust us at” Roth said.
