Out of 66 delegates while present, 55 voted in favour of Kosovo, eight against and three abstained.
This is certainly one of the greatest and most historical achievements for the Kosovo sport. The 2030 Mediterranean Games will be organised in Pristina.
Sportsmen from 26 states participate in Mediterranean Games, while Kosovo is expected to invest over 250m euros in organising the event.
“Pristina 2030” will be the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Games.
The past Mediterranean Games were held last year in Oran, Algeria, where 3298 athletes participated.
But what are the Mediterranean Games?
The Mediterranean Games are a multi-sport game usually held every four years, among nations around the Mediterranean Sea, where Europe, Africa and Asia meet. Games are under the auspices of the International Committee of the Mediterranean Games (CIJM).
Some of the most popular sports part of the Mediterranean Games are: Nott, athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, handball, boxing, karate, tennis, judo, etc.
Kosovo was accepted as a member of the Mediterranean Games in October 2015, and participated for the first time in 2018 in Tarragona, Spain.
Kosovo in the Mediterranean Games has ten medals in only two participating, winning nine medals with judo and one with boxing.
