Powerful earthquakes in Morocco, at least 296 dead

A powerful earthquake has hit Morocco, leaving hundreds of people dead and buildings destroyed, reports The Guardian. According to the U.S. Geological Service, the quake's magnitude was 6.8 and had the focal point in the Atlas Mountains. According to the U.S. Geological Service, the quake's magnitude was 6.8 and had the focal point in the Atlas Mountains. Morocco's Minister of Internal Affairs has said at least 296 people have died in the province near the quake era.
Another 153 have been injured who are being treated in hospitals.
A local official has said most deaths were in mountainous areas and that it was difficult to infiltrate.
