Democratic Party of Kosovo leader Memli Krasniqi has spoken about today's meeting to be held in Brussels between Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq, from whom he has said he does not expect much.
In an interview with Reporter, Krasniqi has said that Kurti and Kosovo go with a weaker position in this meeting, the cause of sanctions imposed on the European Union.
“don't expect much of this appointment. It has been proven so far that usually high-level meetings between Prime Minister Kurti and President Vuciq are meetings where there is no will to advance the dialogue process, but more used for populism and domestic politics. Unfortunately, this does not help Kosovo's perspective when we have sanctions from the EU. In fact, tomorrow, Prime Minister Kurti, therefore Kosovo, goes with a weaker position in this phase of dialogue, precisely because of sanctions weighing on our country”, Krasniqi has declared.
Citing the French president's statement, Emmanuel Macron, in terms of visa liberalisation, Krasniqi has said it is very important that Kurti at tomorrow's meeting show caution, maturity and high political responsibility.
“Sic we have seen in recent months, international partners' warnings to Kosovo have been continuous and with cases even very concrete, as if the president's Macron for revising visa policies unless Kosovo behaves responsibly in this process. Therefore, tomorrow is very important for Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti to show caution, maturity and high political responsibility”, he has said further.
He has also talked about the US Emissar's statement, Gabriel Escobar, who said he has not made any concrete pledges from Kurti to implement its basic and annex agreement, except that he will go to Brussels.
Krasniqi has said none of Kosovo's state interests and goals can be achieved without support and co-ordination with international partners.
“We can talk a lot over what Kosovo has accomplished in the past 24 years with the support of international partners, since freedom, independence, the military, administration, economic development, etc. As we can talk about, much longer, what Kosovo has lost in the past two years as a result of tense reports with them through irresponsible political actions”, he has said in this interview.
He has cited the consequences Kosovo is facing because of sanctions, until he has said nobody wants to co-operate and come up with a state, “, which at his helm has irresponsible institutional leaders. ”
I'm referring to only two things, which, I think, are of particular interest: One: the loss of hundreds of millions of euros in grant-shaped grants from the EU and the US for our country, where all countries in the region have benefited from us. And, second, extreme damage to Kosovo's image, as an irresponsible, insertious and destructive state. No one wants to co-operate and stand up to a state, which at its helm has irresponsible institutional leaders”, Krasniqi has declared.
