Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani spoke with Germany's special envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazzin, about the attack on Kosovo Police in the north on 24 September.
Osmani said that <x0 terrorist actions and act of aggression” are orchestrated and supported by Belgrade.
Such actions constitute violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo and for these actions should sanction Serbia”, Osmani said, according to a media report.
Kosovo's president also said that the police's actions in the north are legitimate and are within the framework of “realisation of their constitutional duties and in the protection of all citizens, indiscriminately”.
Sarrazza has met today with Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, a day after the events in the north.
Kurti has informed him of the actions Kosovo is taking after Sunday's events.
“Emisari Sarrazin expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased and the people of Kosovo, condemned yesterday's attack, labeling it criminal and terrorist on Kosovo Police, and gave Germany's support of Kosovo”, told Kurti's office announcement..
In the early hours of Sunday, Kosovo police were attacked by a group of masked and armed persons after authorities tried to remove barricades located in Zvecan Banjska.
As a result of the clashes, the police official, Africa Bunnjak, was killed and several others were injured.
The armed group later fled to the Banjska monastery from which it clashed with the Kosovo Police.
Authorities said three attackers were killed, meanwhile, on 25 September reportedly another suspected attacker has been found lifeless body. Meanwhile, six people, allegedly linked to the armed group, have been arrested.
Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said the armed persons were local Kosovo Serbs, “who could no longer suffer the terror of Kurti”.
Vuciq condemned the murder of Kosovo police, saying it “could not be justified”, but denied that Belgrade had anything to do with the attack. / REL
