Misuse or theft of electricity continues to remain an ugly phenomenon in our society. Although thanks to hundreds of millions of net investments and the uncompetitive KED's struggle for combating electricity misuse, this phenomenon continues to be disturbing.
Only during the January-August 2023 period, KEDS has carried out more than 55,000 raids to calculate the misappropriations/year-old electricity, of which nearly 4,500 cases have been identified as abuses. KEDS has increased the presence of field control teams with the aim of minimising losses on the network, implementing checks on daily bases on the entire territory of Kosovo.
These checks -- necessary for identifying electricity abusers -- are evidence that such abuses are unacceptable and punishable according to the Republic of Kosovo's Penal Code.
In January-August 2023, the ECDS Legal Office has delivered close to 1,500 criminal charges to competent Kosovo courts.
KEDS remains committed to continuing the fight against electricity abusers, and assures them that it possesses sophisticated tools for identifying them.
Misuse of electricity is punishable under the laws in force of the Republic of Kosovo. Report the misuse of electricity through the Free Call Center: 0800 791 00, via email, social networks or our offices. Your report remains confidential!
