Hashim Thaci, former president of Kosovo, has provided a long interview for the Nacional newspaper from The Hague, where he is continuing to remain as the Special Court's detainee.
In the long interview, Thaci is asked what he most misses about Kosovo, he has said he mostly misses his family and son Andrew.
“For the family, stay and talk freely with them: River, Andrew, who now grew up and became a man, participate in his graduation ceremony, travel the mountains, the beautiful mountains of Kosovo, escort football matches together, or spend some day skiing on the mountains of Brezovica together. Talking about his vital dreams, or a movie or a book, etc. We miss each other every day, but that's the price of freedom. I know that sympathy is a bit of weakness, but it also represents people: we are people of meat and blood”, Thaci said.
He has also said that he has a longing for his parents as they are in the old age phase, and he has shown that last year's meeting was very exciting.
I miss my parents who have entered the old age phase, even though I talk often over the phone. Their arrival here last year was a special and memorable emotion. My visit long ago, on May 29, 2023, which was conducted in custody and association of the DHSK, in the country of Buroja, talking to my parents, for several hours, represents an extraordinary human miracle. Time and conversation with them were most special in my life. We had memories of the past, talked about the immediate and extended family circle, about today, but also about the future. They are blessed with many grandchildren, grandchildren, and great - grandchildren. They are living their old age calm, proud, and dignified. I am thrilled for the people I love and love, who trusted me for more than two decades in the joint process of building free, independent, tolerant, development”, he said.
