Professor Blerim Latifi thinks the referendum law vote would be a way out of the Gorani city where Kosovo is linked to, the one for association.
Latif writes:
This Association thing is turning into a real gordian knot. The West is earnestly seeking its implementation, but it cannot convince Kurt about it. Pressure in the form of punitive measures seems to be failing. Probably not even going to a new election is being viewed as a fortunate solution. Opposition parties have not given convincing promises that they will implement Association. Like them, Kurt is behaving influenced by the fear that such implementation will be recorded in history'salts as national treason.
Is there a way out of this trap, which if it lasts long can cause us irreparable damage as a country?
Perhaps a different route should be considered from those reviewed so far: the referendum.
The assembly meets, adopts the law for referendum, and then let the people say their will on the matter.
When politicians can't decide on behalf of the people, they have to do it themselves.
Of course, I am not inclined to think that the people understand better what the politicians are the right option for solving a problem, but sometimes his declaration through the referendum can help them remove dilemmas and paralyzing fears from making difficult decisions.
