EU mediator for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak has made another dedication on today's developments in the north, where a Kosovo police officer was killed by Serb terrorist groups.
But, not to mention the fact that the attack occurred by Serb side terrorist groups, Lajcak speaks of the necessity of preventing violence dialogue.
With a return from New York this morning, I received shocking news of an attack on Kosovo police officers in northern Kosovo. Such a cowardly act of violence is deeply disturbing and contrary to the very principles of peace and cooperation. My heart is for victims, families, friends and colleagues. This horrific attack further highlights the necessity of diplomacy and preventative dialogue, highlighted during the past week, when I attended the UN General Assembly's top week in New York. In high-level margins, I spoke to many directors and colleagues from around the world. In one way or another, we all stressed the importance of dialogue and co-operation.
I also met the six presidents from the Western Balkans and senior UN officials to discuss regional dynamics. HR/ VP Borrell also organised a traditional Western Balkan lunch to harmonise our messages for this week on the global stage.
To find a way forward in the region and in particular in Dialog, I held strategic discussions with our American partners.
This year, I especially appreciated the dinner with former heads of the General Assembly and the current president of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly.
It was wonderful to return to the UN, but after a week of “meeting global speed” it was time to return to Brussels. In the next few days, I will focus completely on finding a way forward.
