Kurti: I'm for early elections in the North, but we can't force leaders to resign.

Prime Minister Kurti has responded to European Chief diplomat Josep Borrell, who earlier said the resignation of the current chairmans is the easiest and fastest way to organise the new elections in the north. He said no one can be forced to resign on behalf of anyone.
According to him, the democratic and legal way is administrative instruction, until he said the positions are neither welcome nor democratic.
Serbia's <x0List as a branch of the ruling party in Serbia operating in Kosovo, on November 5th gave the collective resignations to municipalities in northern Kosovo, and these make them wrong-minded and wrong. Because of their mistake, they shouldn't have to pay the current mayors who really have the right legitimacy because the exit has been low, but they're the only ones with legitimacy. I'm interested in early elections as soon as possible, but you can't force anyone to resign on behalf of anyone, that should be done by respecting the administrative directive that says a petition must be organised by 20 percent of the electoral body signatures in the respective municipality, so that the vote can be organised towards the end of the chairman's mandate. This is the legal, democratic way down, high-end positions are neither democratic nor welcome”, Kurti said.
Borrell, today at a media conference, commented on two options to announce the elections, but reiterates that the resignations of the four mayors are the best and fastest way.
He said he has received guarantees from Vucin that Serbs will commit to elections in the north.
“The elections can be announced through the resignations of the heads of four municipalities in northern Kosovo or through the collection of signatures by Kosovo Serbs to dismiss the mayors. Let me explain that the EU sees the resignation of the mayors, who have only been elected by 3 percent of the population, as the best and fastest way to hold early elections. The next procedure, the search for signatures, is not certain. Kosovo Serbs are expected to show constructiveity and engage, unconditionally, in the election process, they should participate... and welcome the guarantee I received from President Vuciq today. If there is no progress in the elections, the risk of re-increasing will continue to be dangerous on implementation of the agreement and in the process of normalisation”, Borrell said.
