The meeting, led by Albania's UN permanent representative, Ferit Hoxha, condemned Russia's move to hold local elections in territories occupied in Ukraine. According to Hoxha, Russia hopes that false elections will demonstrate its control over these occupied territories, but they are nothing more than a propagandistic trick.
Albania's representative also rejected the parallel Russia's Ambassador Vasily Nebenza removed between Kosovo and Ukraine, saying that in the Darwin state, the expression of free will was replaced by a declaration of independence. International law was implemented, according to him. This brought Albania's response.
Nothing can be more incorrect and far from the truth than the parallel between Kosovo and Ukraine. Kosovo will not be used and should not be used as a track or a campaign for Russia's military invasion in Ukraine. Kosovo became independent after the bloody war and long-term peace talks, in which Russia was also participating. The international court said the declaration of independence was in line with international law. In the same way, I would like Russia to act with international law, as the court has issued a decision banning the war of Russia. Kosovo and Serbia are important not to engage in aggressive actions. They negotiate and are forced into a process of dialogue to secure their future in peace”, Ferit Hoxha said.
The US representative to the UN, backing Albania's line, called for all states to condemn the scandalous violation of international law by Russia, calling it a stain in UN collective history as a body founded for preserving world peace and an attack on international order.
According to him, Russia should not be granted legitimacy in these actions. /Top Channel
