Visa liberalisation in 2024, not only will it open Kosovars to the world, but it will also save a lot of money, as there will not be spent on visa fees, which cost about 35 euros for application alone.
Expenses are even higher since at visa application centres citizens pay even more for other services included during the application process, which sometimes this amount could be brought in by 150 to 200 euros, reports Schengen VisaInfo.com.
Schengen statistics show that 121.97 visa applications were submitted by Kosovo citizens in 2022, showing that 4.2m euros were spent on visa fees in Schengen area states. 13, 674 apps have been rejected last year, costing more than 478 thousand euros.
During 2022, visa applications handed over by Kosovo citizens marked a record level, and these figures could increase even more as more Kosovars are applying for visas to travel towards the Schengen area.
In the past nine years Kosovars have spent approximately 22.3m euros on visa applications, where higher expenses have been registered in the post and pre-edemia, namely during 2022 and 2019, respectively, with 108,774 visa applications submitted in 2019.
Increasing the number of visa requirements submitted in the times of pandemic was 24,566 000 (2020) 44,666 thousand (2021), respectively.
Moreover, the average number of apps presented between 2014 and 2022 is 71,860, totaling 2.5m euros. However, expenditures would be considered even higher in pre-ndedience times during which, despite the fact that fewer applications were deposited, the rate of rejection was markedly higher than after 2020.
More specifically, the rejection rate in 2014 was 24 percent, with 17,831 visa requirements rejected. In 2015, the rejection rate was 19.6 percent, while they fell to the period following the pandemic after only 11.2 percent of applications were rejected.
Last year, 102,017 visa applications have resulted in success, enabling Kosovo applicants to visit the Schengen area, while the total number of visas with many entrys issued over the past year was 4,360.
