The United States' Ambassador to Pristina, Jeffrey Hovenier, said Saturday that one or several structures stand behind the terrorist attack on the Kosovo Police last week in the country's north, during which a police official was killed.
Asked by the BBC on Saturday whether Serbia stands behind the attack, Hovenier said the quantity and quality of weapons found in Zvecan Banjsk shows that “ethnic Serb strikers did not secure them themselves”.
“Now also, we know that an individual who was vice president of one of the Serb parties in Kosovo, who is known to have participated in events with top Serbian officials, announced through his lawyer that he was organising this event and that he was present”, Hovenier said, referring to Milan Radojic's until-day deputy head of the Serbian List KP party in Kosovo.
On February 2nd of this year, Radovici participated in an extraordinary session in Serbia's Parliament. Also invited there was Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq.
On Friday, Radoici took responsibility for the terrorist attack on Kosovo Police in the village of Banjska in Zvecan on 24 September.
So we're still working to find out exactly who was responsible. But now we know more about this and we're worried about what happened”, Houvenier added.
Kosovo police were attacked on September 24th in an ambush by a terrorist group as they were going to check the deadlock of a road near a bridge in Banjska, where Sergeant Africa Bunnjaku was killed.
The attackers fled to the village monastery, where they continued their confrontation with the police, and three were killed. Three suspected attackers have been arrested and kept in custody in Pristina.
In an interview on 29 September, Kosovo Interior Minister Jedal Svecla said Radojic has not acted alone as he has said, but supported by Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq.
Radoiciqi is on the US blacklist because of corruption and international crime. /rel
