Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci is standing for a family visit to Kosovo.
Thaci, who is being held in custody at The Hague, has been approved to come to Kosovo by the Specialised Chambers to visit the ailing father.
This has been confirmed by Specialised Chambers in The Hague. The visit is allowed as requested in response for “convincing humanitarian reasons”.
Because of convincing humanitarian reasons, the Judicial Chamber has instructed the secretary to manage a Kosovo detention visit to Hashim Thaci to meet the family. The accused remains in custody by the Specialised Chambers. E ULEX and Kosovo Police are supporting Kosovo Specialised Chambers”, said in their response to Reporter.net.
The father of former President Thaci, in his late years, has long been sick. A few days ago, because of the weight of his condition, he was treated in the hospital.
Former President Thaci had been approved such a visit even in May of this year because of what was suggested by the court's “convincing humanitarian reasons”.
Thaci had spent only a few hours in Kosovo to visit his mother, who had health problems.
We remember that, during the month of April, trial has begun at The Hague against former President Hashim Thaci, former Prime Ministers Kadri Veselin and Jakup Krasniqi, as well as former President Rexhep Selimi.
Towards former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity are charged.
He has been in custody since November 2020. Thaci has been declared innocent of all charges weighing on him.
