Albania this month succeeded the UN Security Council Presidency leadership from the United States.

Albania's Ambassador Ferit Hoxha has delivered the first speech yesterday with the presidency receiving and accepted questions from journalists.

One of them asked whether Kosovo will be the topic of the Security Council discussion until Albania is in the lead during September and what Albania will do to improve the situation in Kosovo and Serbia.

Hoxha, who earlier answered on various issues around the world, said she knows the subject well and can talk for a long time.

It's one thing you know very, very well. I'm trying to do it in a minute. The Kosovo issue and the United Nations mission in Kosovo is on the Security Council agenda. It has been several times, several times reduced and for good reasons”, Hoxha said, until she added that Albania has contributed to reducing the number of Kosovo discussions to the UN KS.

He said the reduction has occurred for two reasons.

“First, nothing major has happened, and secondly the Security Council has not really helped in the dialogue process. As you know the dialogue process has been transferred to Brussels”, the Albanian ambassador, who cited the work of emissary Lajcak, US assistance and support and investment of countries supporting this process of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Hoxha said if last Kosovo agreement is reached- Serbia will no longer need the topic for Kosovo to be exercised on the Security Council.

“Sic knows we have an agreement reached in Brussels and the application annex in Ohrid. The parties are ready, in my whole point of view, but let's say they almost knew each other. If that deal is put into practice, we won't need Security Council meetings anymore, we won't have to spend resources on the U mission. NMIC in Kosovo and others”.

He said the agreement leaves Serbia out of its relationship with the former Yugoslavia and Kosovo paves the way for EU integration.

Hoxha gave the final answer that Kosovo will not become an issue this month.

“So, we will not bring that issue to the Security Council, because it is no longer a matter of peace and security. For Kosovo it is a matter of building institutions, advancing them, improving society, integration into Europe and NATO. And the Security Council cannot help this”.

Hoxha got another question about Kosovo and Serbia.

A journalist asked him about missing persons, violations and mass killings in Kosovo during the war, but the Albanian ambassador said this period should be forgotten, however, moved forward.

We can't stay there. We shouldn't forget, but we have to move on. And the best way to move forward is through dialogue. It can be painful, it may not be easy, it needs sacrifice, no one can take 100%, but absolutely alternative to” dialogue, Hoxha replied.

After tensions erupted in the country's north, Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq attempted to put it into the Security Council agenda in early July.

But, not a month and a half later, Serbian officials did not ask for a session, but after returning from Athens, Vuciq reiterated that he would seek Security Council hearing, as he said at the best moment.

Since July, Vuciq has been unable to find suitable states at the helm of the presidency since the United Kingdom was in July, in August, the US, while currently in September Albania.

But it seems that Vuciq expects China to make Kosovo issue on the Security Council since after Brazil in October, he takes the presidency in November.
