According to the European Commission's Statistics Office (Eurstat), Kosovo had affirmed the cheapest electricity prices in Europe for 2022, when last annual measurements have been made. Average prices for average consumer spending are 6 cents per kilowatt/h, which is nearly 25 per cent cheaper than the second cheaper Serbia at a price of 7 cents per kilowatt/h. Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro have prices of 8 cents per kilowatt/hour or more than 35 per cent more expensive than in Kosovo. Northern Macedonia is even more expensive, marking the price of 10 cents per kilowatt/hour that costs approximately 70 percent more than Kosovo.
These measurements include only middle-size consumers with an annual consumption of 2500kWh to 4999 kWh.
All EU countries have prices at least twice as high as Kosovo. The EU's most populated country, Germany has a price of 28 cents per kilowatt/hour or 4.75 times more than in Kosovo.
Meanwhile, Denmark, Belgium and Italy are the three European Union countries that continue to pay the highest price for electricity, based on Eurostat data for the second quarter of 2022. As for the region, the highest electricity prices for domestic consumers have Romania, Greece and Croatia.
According to Eurostat, in Denmark, 1 kilowatt/h of electricity costs an average of 47 cents, in Belgium 42 cents, and in Italy the price is 33 cents.
In Kosovo, the price for kilowatt/h is 6 cents, which is almost fivefold lower than Romani, where 1 kilowatt/h costs 29 cents.
