Students from sixth to ninth grade are obliged to buy new textbooks, since not all books have been returned from previous generations. Students complain that even those equipped with them are damaged. And this situation, according to teachers, is causing problems.
Under legislation in effect, low-level students are equipped with new textbooks every two years.
This year, those teaching processes will develop with textbooks from the past generation. Students complain that they lack certain books and that they have little good.
“All were torn and old”, said Erin Berisha, students at the school “Emin Duraku”.
“Ende no, half I have and I miss work notebook”, said Altin Beqiri, a student in “Emin Duraku”.
“I've got all of them from school, but only working notebooks do I miss”, said student Bajramshahe Mahrolli.
The school principal, Visar Osmani, said some books are missing, due to changing the number of students compared to the previous generation.
Last few years we've had a request for classroom stewards who don't have a book, there's no voucher, if the books are damaged... and in the cycle six nine over 50 percent have been returned and we have them, because it has moved the number from generation to”, Osmani said.
The same is true in other schools. For this, complaints have also been made at the College of Municipal Education Directors, whose officials last week declared they lack books, as not all have returned from students.
The lack of books on this level is causing problems for teachers as well. Short Mehanol, a teacher at the school “Asim Vokshi” in the capital, says this will penalise students.
The book is definitely the main source while we use additional materials that help train students during the learning process... It's created a lot of difficulties, a lot of students that I've seen in three days of learning aren't equipped with books because they've been changed over the years and without books I don't think they can succeed”, Mehanol said.
At the Council of Parents of Kosovo, they have asked the ministry to supply textbooks and students from fifth to ninth level. For this category, the ministry has earmarked 30 euros for the purchase of school tools. /Koha.net
