In addition to Albania, which cited Kosovo's right to independence, a call for UNx0 universal recognition” also came from the other Kosovo ally ʹ Croatia.
Croatia's President Zoran Milanovic wrapped up his speech with a call to nations that Kosovo be recognised as an equal state in the community of nations.
“We continue to contribute to the universal recognition of the Republic of Kosovo and its rights for existence as an equal member of the community of nations. It is in our interest to promote the stability and further development of this region, as well as the European integration process, which we believe remains crucial to the future prosperity of our neighbours and which we hope will accelerate in the coming years”, he said.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, as the holder of the Security Council presidency, except for Ukraine, clashed with Russia for Kosovo as well.
“Russia and others have tried to misuse the changed reality of the Western Balkans, and especially the birth of the Republic of Kosovo to justify their dreams or their dreams that have exported. No matter how hard Kosovo struggles, whose independence is sanctioned by the International Criminal Court, the 14th head of this UN Charter. The International Criminal Court cannot serve as a pretext for kidnapping territories or illegal annexation. If the peace that lasts in our region today is tangible, it is about lessons learned to overcome the past and learn a future together through co-operation”, Rama said.
In this New York where leaders from around the world are gathered, from Kosovo there is President Vjosa Osmani.
