US Congressman Ritchie Torres has said he is alarmed after information that Serbia has increased forces along the border with Kosovo.
“As a proud and steadfast supporter and ally of the Republic of Kosovo, I am increasingly alarmed by reports of a large and sophisticated delocation of Serbian forces along the Serbia-Kosovo border”, he wrote.
In this case, Torres has distributed a letter to “Reuters”, where US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, at a news conference yesterday, has raised US concern about a large deployment of Serb troops near the border with the Republic of Kosovo.
Kirby has said the US is monitoring the situation and has asked Serbia to withdraw its troops.
Kirby was asked whether this gathering of military troops near the border is the signal that Serbia is preparing for any military invasion, but has said the purpose of such a move by Serbia cannot say.
We're watching it. But, the goal [of the gathering of Serbian military troops], I cannot now say”, he said.
