Albanian border police at the border with Greece sequestro this week in two cases about 30,000 euros undeclared, while cases of undeclared money seizure have increased this year.

During the month alone, Albanian border police said they seized about 295 thousand euros and over 113 thousand pounds, undeclared at border crossing points, while the holders of monetary sums were prosecuted.

Albanian law obliges people who enter or leave Albanian territory to declare financial sums starting at 10,000 euros, or against the value of that amount in other currencies.

Years of Observation of Money

The figure so far is markedly higher than the other years, and in most cases police investigations have focused on allegations that money stems from criminal activity abroad.

The latest Italian Nardroga report speaks that Albanian criminal networks use the scheme of sending money to Albania through transport vehicles that mainly pass through the port of Vlora and Durres.

Money cases seized in 2022
