Former Vetvendosje member Dren Kukaj says the Kurti Government with access to the justice system is showing that it wants to be controlled and thus served.

Kukaj emphasises that a democratic country's democratic prime minister, his direct power is incumbent only on his subordinates, so his cabinet ministers and not on independent institutions.

He does not consider the prime minister to be democratic, adding that he has authoritarian tendencies and that he is interested in turning the State Prosecutor and using it against his opponents, whether it be part of public life or not, not to mention the business community.

I think the most disturbing of these relatives that are being called is the approach of the government to the prosecutorial system and to the judicial system that is coming into the picture when there are cases that I think are before there are reasons to protect those people. These are approaching this system of justice so they can have the same control, so that whenever their power is most seriously violated, they can place it in his service. To speak more simply in a democratic country where a politician is prime minister is democratic for his beliefs and approach, then that politician sees to it that only his ministers are in control, so the subordinates of a democratic politician who is prime minister should be only his ministers. They shouldn't be interested in independent institutions, they shouldn't be interested in key persons in organizations, in institutions that, by the nature of their function, should be independent of the system or of political power in a democratic country”.

This is not the case with our prime minister. Our prime minister for the poor fate of fragile democracy in our country is not a democratic prime minister, while it is consistently declared as such. This is a prime minister who has clear authoritarian tendencies and who are necessarily as we have seen so far are interested in putting the institutions under the control of a prime minister. Such is the case with the justice system, respectively, with special emphasis I would say the prosecution's body, respectively the state prosecutor, whom he is willing to bring into control at any cost, to put him in service of his power, the same one to instrumentalise him with the use of it against his opponents, including members who are part of public life, but perhaps even to the community of businesses<1>, Kukaj said.

Kukaj added that anyone who has conviction and estimates democracy is important should feel concerned about the way this Government is being brought to the institutions of justice and that there are still no reforms in this system.

He said most of the citizens' problems are not being addressed at the time why the current prime minister has the greatest power since post-war in Kosovo.

Kukaj also said that although as the PSD has addressed these issues, the non-representation in the Assembly limits the possibilities in this direction.

So this is the case, and I think that anyone who really believes that democracy in a country is really important would have to feel worried about how this government is acting against the institutions of justice. Keep in mind that if we talk about the justice system, and the damage that is caused by its actuality to citizens and their rights in major cases does not result from the failures similar to the body of prosecution, respectively. If you and I currently have a dispute if I don't miss the average is six years to get an epilogue decision. This has not changed the length of the courts in relation to citizens, if not postponed, so problems that are really problems with citizens are not being addressed. Only one segment is being addressed, exclusively for the need for authoritarian tendencies of this political power, and this is not a political power anyway, is the greatest political power that has had a prime minister since the post-war to date in Kosovo”.

“E, which instead of staying interested in the work of his subordinates, his ministers, he cares every day for more and more organizations and institutions which should naturally be independent of the political power of a social government, otherwise he loses meaning. A media that is not independent and that serves only one prime minister cannot afford to consider creditable. A prosecutor who is dependent on a prime minister cannot be considered a true prosecutor as he should be. So we're seeing these as extremely disturbing developments that I can honestly say we've been among the first to raise our voices to them, maybe we could do more, but you know that I represent them. The PSD, which is an extraparliamentary party and our possibilities have been extremely limited in this direction”, Kukaj told EO.
