Goncherenko, convinced that it is only a matter of time until Kiev recognizes Kosovo's independence.
On the other hand, he has said he is very grateful for the invaluable support Kosovo is showing to Ukraine.
I mean, I mean that we are very grateful to Kosovo for the support it is showing for us. The only problem we have with Kosovo is that Ukraine has not yet decided to recognise its independence, so I have proposed in parliament that things move in the right direction and we recognise Kosovo's independence. Now it's up to President Zelensky to make this decision, but right now he's not doing that. However I am very convinced that this will happen sooner or later”, Goncherenko told Tv1.
Gonachrenkos is not impressed with statements by Serbian officials who say Ukraine cannot recognise Kosovo's independence.
According to him, this issue belongs only to Kiev, while it has also told of problems Ukraine currently has with the Serbian state.
All our main allies have already recognised Kosovo's independence, so why not join them. I am not interested in the comments of Serbian officials, because this is our issue. We can have good co-operation with Serbia even if we recognise Kosovo like other Western states. Our problem in reports with Serbia is that the latter is greatly influenced by Russia”, he added.
Although Kosovo is not recognised by Ukraine, it has imposed sanctions on Russia and provided support to Kiev.
