Tomorrow the trial of Thaci and others continues

From tomorrow, August 15th, after summer break, the trial of KLA leaders in The Hague is expected to begin. According to the calendar, sessions and two more weeks this month are expected for four consecutive days this week. Before they go on vacation, three weeks ago there has been the hearing of 15 first witnesses in the case of Kosovo Liberation Army leaders.
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi are accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
The initial act against the four indictees was confirmed on October 26, 2020, and has undergone several changes in the years that have followed. The Act currently in effect was handed over on February 27, 2023.
Each of the accused has been charged on the basis of individual criminal responsibility on six counts of crimes against humanity: persecution, imprisonment, other inhuman acts, torture, unlawful murder, and forced disappearance of persons.
Also against them are claims of war crimes: arrest and illegal and arbitrary detention, cruel treatment, torture and unlawful murder.
According to the indictment, the crimes presented were committed at least from March 1998 to September 1999 at some locations in Kosovo, as well as in Kukes and Cahan of Albania.
These crimes were allegedly committed by KLA members against hundreds of civilians and persons who did not participate in the fighting.
So far, 140 people have been admitted as participating victims in the judicial process.
They have been acquitted of charges in question.
