Todorovich: In Serbia I threatened why I said Kosovo deserves seat at UN

Todorovic says she is already used to threats because of her statements, and that the opinion in Serbia sounds a little disturbing the way she speaks and how she understands inter-regional co-operation, especially between Kosovo and Serbia.
This is something that is not welcomed in public, mainly because of political narration between Kosovo and Serbia. So, I am asked whether Kosovo should have seats in the UN and for this I have mentioned the negotiation process, agreements, annex agreements when Serbia is agreed not to block Kosovo's membership in international organisations. I have explained the role of the UN, and I have said that Kosovo's membership in the UN would also imply an additional mechanism that would control human rights in a form. That would mean more options for all people in Kosovo, especially communities. So I don't understand why such reactions are needed, when it offers a better solution and better competition for human rights”, she told Radio Kosovo.
She says Kosovo should still have seats in the United Nations organisation.
I don't mind saying that, even though this is not well accepted in Serbia because of nationalism that is a tool in politics. But I am also aware who is responsible for this, and that is the responsibility of politicians like Kosovo, as in Serbia. I know that Serbs in Serbia do not have enough information on the history of reports between Kosovo and Serbia, about what happened in Kosovo during the 1990s and not after what happened afterwards. So, I think that's dangerous, because in the end, the consequences are on citizens”, Todorovic declared.
She says she has given up as something very dangerous political narration that is built in Kosovo and Serbia for dialogue, perceived as a form of “-tradite” by anyone signing it.
I don't see dialogue. Our leaders don't hold talks. They're constantly negotiating in between. This shows much about their responsibility to face reality. Our politicians have no political responsibility, and I see it as a danger both in Kosovo and Serbia. I know many activists even in Kosovo who are perceived as traitors only because they protect human rights. So it's the constant charge that becomes us talking about more sensitive issues and we're the ones who're mostly blamed on these” topics, she said.
Todorovic said the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in Belgrade, monitors on regular grounds the rights of the Albanian community in the Presevo Valley.
“We are forwarding stops that are being made to broadcast films just because there are symbols of Kosovo, or the failure of addresses of Albanians in the Valley, to which we are also offering legal assistance. We are making Albanians and Serbs together on different occasions, testifying that dialogue is possible even if we do not agree on all things. We are also conveyed the situation of the Serb community in Kosovo, which in the past two years has been markedly deteriorating, there is an increase in fear of whether we are going into conflict or living in peace. The lives of Serbs in Kosovo should not be repeatedly defined by Belgrade, but Kosovo institutions must go there and talk to citizens there. I'm not talking about people who are violent, but unhappy citizens. I think unilateral reports like for Albanians in Serbia, like for Serbs in Kosovo, should be halted and we should raise our voices for that, regardless of whose rights are being violated”, Todorovic said.
