On the Croatian border, a high level of cancerous substance was found in French fries with pepper flavor produced in Serbia, the European Commission's website was reported.
The product has not entered the Croatian market and has been destroyed by customs at the border.
Substance Acrylamide can't be found in fresh foods, and it is made mostly during food processing at temperatures of over 120 degrees, as well as low moisture, which includes roasting, frying, and other forms of preparation.
It is usually found on bread, fries, morning cereals, cookies, and coffee.
As the Croatian Food Agency reports, it is estimated that the presence of acrylamide in food can increase the risk of developing cancer in all age groups. /Telegraph
