US Ambassador to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier said they are concerned with suspending Klan Kosovo's license.
According to him, the owners of this medium have presented documents requested by the Government, demanding that caution be taken because media freedom is very important.
The ambassador expects the Government to resolve this case more transparently and quickly, adding that the US will continue to stand in favour of media freedom.
I don't believe it's a mystery that the United States and our partners are concerned with the QUINT statement on Friday, just hours after the decision is suspended as a business license. We don't see this as just business issues. We see it as media issues, and we address it as such”.
According to what we've heard from Kosovo's owners, that they've submitted other documents and whenever we talk about a Government deciding on a broadcast media or any action that concerns its operation, there should be extraordinary care, because media freedom is extremely important. And that's our point of view. Hopefully, the Government will choose this case as fair as possible, as transparent and as fast as”.
I saw these comments, I was surprised by those comments, and I don't believe those comments have any basis for reality at all, actually. I meet with business leaders from different spectrums. There is no connection between my official meetings with people and decisions the government makes. The U.S. will continue to stand in favor of media freedom”
He made these comments after granting a donation of 250 body cameras and 113 installed in cars for the Kosovo Police.
