Mr. Garland said on Friday he would appoint prosecutor David Weiss, from the state of Dellauer, who is currently investigating the president's son's financial and commercial activities as the special prosecutor for the case.
Mr. Garland said Tuesday that Mr. Weiss had told him that “, according to his trial, the investigation had arrived at a stage where his further functions could continue only with the status of the Special Prosecutor and asked me to appoint him to such a position. ”
After reviewing his request, as well as the extraordinary circumstances related to this case, I have come to the conclusion, which is in the public interest, to appoint him special prosecutor,” said Mr. Garland.
The move is an important step by Mr. Garland, which is known as cautious and comes at a time when the Justice Department is taking a series of investigations into former President Donald Trump, a senior rival of President Biden in next year's elections.
The appointment of the special prosecutor was also made along with the investigation that republican lawmakers are preparing for Hunter Biden's businesses.
