Kosovo's resident Vjosa Osmani has said on Wednesday that the suspension of the visa removal decision for Kosovo citizens from January 1st 2024 would kill the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

She issued this heavy warning, referring to the French president's position, Emmanuel Macron, who has said on August 28th that his country will reconsider its pledges on economic issues and visa policies for Kosovo and Serbia if they do not behave responsibly.

I would say this is the way to kill dialogue once and for all. If anyone wants to have no dialogue anymore, then take such measures, which are punitive measures against the people of Kosovo. They are not against any leader, they are not against a policy, they are against the people of Kosovo. And such unprecedented punishment, which has also been a great injustice for the people of Kosovo, will result in the death of dialogue. There is no longer a mandate to go to Brussels, when the people of Kosovo are punished”, Osmani has said in a visit to the Memorial for the Pristina Infertile.

The president, perhaps, has forgotten that dialogue is the peace process imposed on the UN General Assembly resolution and supported by the United States of America and the European Union.
Osmani has said that Kosovo has reached compliance with the European Union for the extension of the situation in the north since 10 July in Bratislava.

She has mentioned that the agreement envisions the reduction of the Kosovo Police presence in and around municipal buildings in the north, the step she has said Kosovo has done, and that it is working on organising new elections.
According to Osmani, the legal basis for maintaining these elections will be ready on September 1st, and thus has said it expects the EU to lift punitive measures against Kosovo, which it has assessed as unfair and unproportionate.

Another point of the Bratislava agreement envisions even the fastest return to dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Osmani has said he expects movement in this direction in September.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and EU envoy for dialogue Miroslav Lajcak have discussed dialogue on August 28th.

Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia have been high in May this year, since residents of the northern municipalities -- Zvecan, Leposaviq and Zubin Potok -- have rejected the entry of new Albanian mayors to municipal buildings.

Residents of these majority Serb municipalities have protested for weeks before the buildings, and the situation has occasionally escalated into violence.
