Praiseful to Prime Minister Kurti: It protects Kosovo's interests

Minister for Communities and Kthim Nenad Rassic said Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti wants the best for Serbs in the long run, while the petition for the dismissal of mayors in the north is legally the only correct proposal, but best for citizens is for mayors to resign. Rassic said in RTK2 that the new elections open up opportunities for new political options in northern Kosovo.

Minister for Communities and Kthim Nenad Rassic estimates that the Government is stable and that he understands the movements of Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the matter of the North and relations with the West because it protects Kosovo's interests.

“I know that the prime minister is trying to do good things and I sincerely believe he thinks good to Serbs with long-term strategies”, Rassic added.

Kurti is someone who adheres to the letter of the law and the proposal of a petition by citizens in the north, which would require the resignation of the mayors, is the only correct one, according to Rashiqi.

“If you are looking for a way to open the space for new elections under current law, this is the only way in this case”, Rassic said.

However, he claims the resignations would have a proactive effect on citizens.

“The resignations would be the best possible solution because they would provide dynamics from the point of view of democratic values and strengthening pluralism”, he said.

Rassic stresses that this is an opportunity for other political parties besides the Serbian List to try to gain power and do something for the community.

“This could be a way to create a new initiative that would be included in normal legal processes and participate in the elections of this type,” stressed Rassic.

Minister Nenad Rassic says he would not be surprised if the Serbian List again boycotted the elections in northern Kosovo and if there is no pressure, new candidates and a considerable number of citizens who will exercise the right to vote.

It is natural for Serbs to be mayors in a Serb majority environment, and I hope that at the top of the municipality people who will prioritize the citizens' problems, Rassic concluded.
