Ambassador Abbott hosted several prosecutors from Kosovo and Northern Macedonia, “part of a Western Balkans regional project financed by Great Britain”.
“Pleasure to host prosecutors from Kosovo and North Macedonia for lunch at British Residence as part of a Western Balkans regional project funded by Great Britain designed to create a stronger and more effective chain of criminal justice, including increased co-operation among regional prosecutors”, the British Embassy reported.
“Co-operation among effective, independent institutions is a key element towards the end of the vicious crime cycle and corruption that erode public confidence in the justice system”, it was said further in the statement.
Isufaj, elected by the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council to become chief state prosecutor, has not yet received the President's approval. Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that Chief Special Prosecutor can become chief prosecutor. The government has placed it on target Isufajn, charging that it is part of the old “regime, since several officials of the Ministry of Commerce were arrested at the special prosecutor's order for misuse of state reserves.
