The ombudsman has approved the request of the director of the Kosovo Security Bureau (BKS) Mr. Sami Mazrekt vs. Kosovo's Assembly for changing the Law for Taxation to the real Property.
Until the time Mazrek filed a complaint at the ombudsman's office to record their cars citizens had to pay taxes on property.
Until after the Mazrek director's complaint this discriminating practice of Kosovo municipalities no longer applies.
“The People's Authentication Based on Article 16, paragraph 1, of Law No. 05 L-019 for the ombudsman has received a complaint from Mr. Sami Mazrek, envisioned against the Kosovo Assembly regarding the adoption of the Law for Tax on Real estate” is further said in the decision.
Furthermore, the Ombudsman recommends to the Ministry of Finance to take up the legislative initiative for changing and completing the 06/ L-005 for real estate tax, so Article 29 is removed on the table.
Otherwise, Mr. BKS Director. Sami Mazrek has stated from the beginning that conditioning citizens in paying property taxes as a condition to register the vehicle is unconstitutional.
