The learning process in Kosovo is set to begin on 1 September.
But students still do not have their textbooks secured.
Education Minister Arberie Nagavci on Monday has indicated that this school year, students will not have books from the ministry.
And she blamed publishing houses for blowing up the prices of books.
She proposed a new method of obtaining books from parents with state reimbursement.
Regarding this issue, former Deputy Education Minister Xhavit Rexhaj has spoken about Front Online.
Rexhaj said that 10 days before the start of class should not make such decisions.
He says that the decision should be carefully analyzed.
“cannot talk about a decision without having the ministry's relevant decision published on the ministry's website or various means. I consider that it should be analysed in the first place, but no decision should be made 10 days before the start of the school year on complex issues such as text issues, the ministry will do nothing before the start of the school year”, Rexaj said.
The education ministry had cancelled the tender for the purchase of textbooks for first-grade students until fifth grade, for the new school year starting on September 1st, under the argument that “books are expensive”.
