US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said through a statement that the new package includes mines-clearing equipment, air systems rockets, artillery ammunition, high-speed artillery missile systems (HIMARS), and over 3 million rounds for small weapons.
“The United States, our allies and partners will remain united with Ukraine as long as necessary”, Blinken said.
The aid package is financed through funds approved earlier by the American Congress.
Since the launch of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February of last year, the US has sent military aid to Ukraine worth over $43 billion. American President Joe Biden, earlier this month he asked Congress to approve additional aid worth $24 billion.
Both the Democrats and the Republicans in Congress have supported the assistance of Ukraine, but some right-wing republics want to cut back on aid.
Ukrainian troops have launched a counteroffensive in the east and south of the state in June, but have made slow progress south because large areas have been mined by Russian forces.
