The head of the Commission for Foreign Affairs in the Ukraine Parliament, Oleksandr Merezhko, one of the letter signatories expressing concern with current Western policies towards Kosovo-Serbia relations, says the issue of recognising Kosovo's independence from Ukraine is the job of the president, who under the constitution is responsible for foreign policy.
He stressed that he has signed the letter as Ukraine's MP and expresses his position on the issue, as he values the fact that Kosovo supports Ukraine and has implemented sanctions against Russia.
In the letter of lawmakers and politicians from various Euro-Western countries, including ten heads of commissions for foreign relations and 56 deputies sent to US, British and EU diplomatic chiefs, among other things, the focus of Western diplomacy on normalisation of relations and the ongoing Euro-Atlantic path to Serbia and Kosovo, and a preventive and balanced diplomacy not to repeat mistakes from the past.
