Prime Minister Albin Kurti said the sunflower is a culture of strategic importance.
Thus, he reported on Facebook that farmer Shukri Sa God has planted 30 acres of sunflowers.
That final product is already dedicated to export because of high market demand for raw materials. Through the 2023 Direct Pay Program, a hectare of sunflowers has been supported by 454 euros, including the subsidization of oil and fertilizer”, Kurti wrote.
“Shacriu, this year has seen 100 hectares of wheat and expects to harvest another 15 hectares of corn. The flower-planted surfaces were 48 hectares in 2022, while this year are almost 300 hectares -- that is, some 521% more”, the prime minister added.
