Kryeziu: What more is the EU asking from Kosovo? Three requirements derived from the Bratislava agreement have been met

Kosovo's government considers the three EU requirements coming out of the Bratislava agreement between Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and EU Emisari Miroslav Lajcak for the de-excedentation of the situation in the north. Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu said the government has first fulfilled the first two steps by attracting 50% of police to and around municipalities in the country's north.

While the third step is right to fulfillment, as the Government has established the working group responsible for drafting administrative directives that enable early elections.

The government of the Republic of Kosovo, represented by its deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislimi, has reached an agreement in Bratislava with EU Emissar Miroslav Lajcak on the steps of implementing the June 3rd EU declaration for decespassing the situation in the four municipalities in the north. From that moment, the Republic of Kosovo has met the first point of that agreement with the 25% reduction in the presence of Kosovo Police members in and around municipal buildings. As a result of implementing the second point, which envisions the shared assessment of the security situation, last week the number of police officers in and around municipal buildings has decreased for 25% more. Meanwhile, within the framework of Bratislava's third agreement point, we have already established the task force responsible for drafting administrative directives enabling early elections, said Government spokesman Kryeziu for RTV21.

Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu has raised questions towards the EU about what he is demanding most from Kosovo. As for Serbia, he said he has done nothing to de-excedent the situation in the north.

So Kosovo is respecting agreeing with the EU. An important question that needs to be raised is what Serbia has done for deexceting the situation from what it was originally asked by the EU itself. This, along with the question of what the EU from Kosovo is asking the most, is best to present itself to the EU. We have said the measures towards Kosovo have been unfair and we expect them to leave as soon as possible, especially after progress in implementing the Brastislava agreement, but even after the improved situation on the ground” said Government spokesman Progress Kryeziu. This government response comes after the EU has welcomed the withdrawal of 50% of police from northern municipalities, but the EU has demanded further steps from the Government for de-excedenting the situation in the north. “The EU welcomes the recent announcement by the Kosovo government for a further 25% reduction of police presence in and around municipal buildings in northern Kosovo. These are steps in the right direction, but further steps” are needed in the EU's response.

Meanwhile, RTV21 has asked the EU for an answer to what other steps the Government is required to take in Pristina, but we have not yet received answers. The EU has imposed punitive measures on Kosovo following tensions in the north. But despite the steps the Government has taken to de-exceed the situation, The EU is still holding punitive measures in force.
