Krasniqi gives details on manner of resignation of mayors in the north

He has clarified that the established task force must finalise the Administrator's Project and proceed by September 1st of this year, claiming that this will apply to the whole country and not only to the north.

He has clarified that although they had initiated changes in the Law on Local Self-Government, it was not possible because 2/3 of the votes of communities were needed.

Krasniqi from Lipjan, added that the resignation of the mayors cannot be sought, but that he should decide with legal mechanisms, as is in this case the petition.

The Law on Local Self-Government has many shortcomings and there is a lot of room to be corrected and fulfilled, you know we've initiated the implementation of the law we've made some proposals but it hasn't been put to the polls, because it needs 2/3 of the votes and communities. That's what's put us in front of the situation so that we can develop the instructions. We've finally started on the procedure as a petition, stems from Article 72 law, see what their findings will be”.

The subx0> group has one month to make the draft and then to be from a single guide account, but what's important is that this is the direction derived from the law is not only in the north, it can be exploited by all municipalities. I'm pretty sure it'll be professional. The mayors in the north have won a mandate, resignation cannot be demanded by any institution other than petitioned by citizens”.

The direction is determined by how the petition is organized, and the drafting of the petition has followed. We have the mayors in the office, the petition is the will expressed by 20% of the citizens. We do not make any documents that are special for an area, but for the entire Kosovo”.

While the chairman of Lipjani, Imri Ahmeti, said the north is political issue and should enable a solution as soon as possible, EO reports.

I don't have any instructions, there must be a choice. The petition doesn't believe that the mechanism, the means have been solved. There are shortcomings in effect, but the issue of the north is political, elections must be found”.

We don't have such measures, no doubt they have sequences, we don't have the measurements they're bad, they have to create a way of finding solutions, it's not legal, it's political”.

On July 10th, Kosovo has reached agreement with the EU on lowering tensions, and it has included holding new elections in the north.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has said that the election cannot have without full extension of the situation in the north. The EU has called for elections in the north to be held in the shortest deadline.
