Kosovo recognition from Ukraine, discussion topic in Kiev

Positive news that Ukraine can recognise Kosovo's independence has come from Kiev in recent days. Ukrainian lawmakers are in favour of recognising Kosovo. Among them the head of Ukraine's Foreign Policy Commission aleksandr Merezhko, told RTK that the final decision belongs to President Volodymyr Zelensky. Before making a decision [...]
Before making such a decision, we have to weigh pluss and minuss to take into consideration and political consequences. But the final decision belongs only to the president, not to parliament. We MPs do not decide on this issue, however, we represent the people, we have the voice of the people of Ukraine, and people in Ukraine see very clearly that Kosovo is on the side of Ukraine and for Serbia you know Serbia has not imposed sanctions against Russia. In Serbia, we see sympathy for Russia. In Serbia, unfortunately, we see a development of relations with Russia, which is disturbing to us, and certainly has influence on our voters”, MP Merezhko has declared.
Whether recognition by Ukraine will happen after the war ends there, Merezhko until he says it is difficult to claim already, however optimistic that this can happen.
Many issues that seem problematic or controversial in Ukraine tend to be postponed until the end of the war. Now we are concerned about our survival, we are fighting a very powerful enemy, and for this reason, we tend to postpone some difficult and complicated issues, but at the same time we see, again speaking from a political standpoint here, we can see that our allies that helped us survive, they support Kosovo, they have already recognised Kosovo and is one of the arguments in favour of recognition. But another issue, much will depend on the European Union's policy. Ukraine is a candidate for EU membership, as well, we must co-ordinate foreign policy with the EU. Much will depend on the EU's position on Kosovo”, he said.
Ukrainian journalists in Kosovo are also working for recognition of Kosovo's independence.
Journalist Lyudmila Makey said people and politicians in Ukraine are interested in learning more about Kosovo after Serbia, according to her, has done many propaganda.
Before we came to Kosovo, we had a vacuum, we had very little information, it was all covered with Serbia's filtering. Ukrainian citizens have great interest in Kosovo, and when I post material for Kosovo I have seen that there is much interest in Ukraine knowing Kosovo. Our materials are also read by politicians in Ukraine, who have a lot of interest in this state and in some form we open our eyes to what happens and what Kosovo is. A week ago, we had a conversation with a very popular professor from Kiev who appreciated our materials from Kosovo, and these materials were distributed to very popular media there. He is convinced that Ukraine will recognise Kosovo, immediately after the war”, said Makey, journalist from Ukraine, in Kosovo
Meanwhile, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti said in his address to the government cabinet that Ukraine was involved in the letter that over 50 MPs sent to EU, US and United Kingdom top diplomats, seeking more balanced and proportional approaches of the international community with Kosovo and Serbia”.
Ukraine's ambassador to Belgrade, Voldymyr Tolkach, said the previous day that more and more in Ukria are growing speculation about recognising Kosovo's independence, and that some MPs from the Ukraine Parliament are supporting the stance for possible recognition of Kosovo.
He also acknowledged that this is no surprise, since the Kosovo leader “has taken a clear stand for condemning Russian aggression against Ukraine, specifically sanctioning the aggressor”.
