Kosovo Serb Party leader Aleksandar Jablanovic says the petition is not the right way to replace the new mayors in northern Kosovo.

Jablanovic added that the Government's recent decision on an Administrative Direction about elections in the north, according to him, is a constructive movement towards the United States of America and the European Union.

Which, according to him, Kosovo could have the next crisis.

“I am sure that the petition is not the right way to replace the mayor in northern Kosovo. In my opinion, this is a movement of the Government of Kosovo that wants to be represented as a constructive party to the EU and the US, and essentially that movement is only buying out time and will lead to the continuation of the crisis in the coming months”, he says.

Jablanovic and that there are two ways to pave the way for the new elections and decend the situation in northern Kosovo, which includes the complete removal of the Special Units.

“Mayors of municipalities in the north have no legitimacy and must resign and thus pave the way for new elections. The second section of the road should be opened by the Government of Kosovo, with the full withdrawal of special police units and the removal of the checkpoint on the Bistrica bridge preventing the normal movement of citizens”, he added.

According to him, if there is no co-operation between political parties in the north and prime minister and president, there will still be no Serb participants in this election.

Asked whether he will take part in the elections or not, he adds that he will not take his position until 1 September.

After these two moves, political parties from the north must be invited to negotiate with the prime minister and president on the date and everything important for the new elections. Without such concrete actions on the ground, there will be no significant participation of Serbs in any election. We as a party have not yet discussed this topic, but of course we will keep our position before September 1st, and we will behave like that, whether or not, the” elections, Jablanovic told Blic newspaper.
