Greek authorities say this process is politically motivated because Albania has violated the right to fair judgment and presumption of innocence.
Diplomatic editor Vassilis Nedos, referring to internal discussions in the Greek government after failing in talks with Albanian counterparts, emphasises that at the beginning of December, at the meeting of the European Council, Prime Minister Mitsotakis could veto his veto by demanding a freeze of economic assistance for Albania.
Even Zv. EC President Margaritis Schinas said on Thessaloniki Radio on the issue:
“Here I have made clear Commissioner Oliver Varhely as responsible for expanding the EU that if the issue is not resolved, Albania's integration process should not continue. Mr. Beler is a violation of presumption of innocence because he prevents a democratically elected representative from a member of the ethnic Greek minority in Albania to swear and exercise the task”.
“As a longtime supporter of Albania's European perspective, I hope Albanian authorities take concrete steps to resolve the issue quickly. If that doesn't happen, I see a serious risk this issue will negatively affect Albania's overall progress and engagement on the right track to become a full-fledged EU member”, he stated.
The Special Prosecutor (SPAK) closed earlier the investigation in Beler's charge, bringing the case to the First Century Special Court for Corruption.
The SPAK points out that the analysis proves to be proven beyond any reasonable suspicion the defendant Beler has offered citizens Arsen Rama the 50-euro monetary sums for every person who found Arseni, who would vote for Beler as mayoral candidate in local elections on May 14th.
Meanwhile, citizens himself Arsen Rama has promised as a reward for the service that would carry out the 300 Euros.
Beler has given the monetary sums to Rama through other defendants Pandeli Cocaveshi, who has been his associate in carrying out this corrupting act.
The latter gave Rama eight bills of a $5 thousand cut for eight people who would vote in Beler's favor.
In the concrete case, defendants have committed criminal acts with illegal active acts in two forms, such as through the promise and delivery of monetary sums, writes Klan Macedonia, broadcast Insander.
